Company
Responsible manufacturing at NO FUGAZI means making the right garment once: specified clearly, sampled and approved before bulk, checked at four stages, and made to order in the quantity a brand has planned.
This page describes how we work and where the limits of what we can say are. It is an account of our practice, not a certification.
Materials
Fabric chosen for the garment it has to become
Fabric weight, composition and handle are agreed with your quote and confirmed on the sample, so the garment you approve is the garment we make in bulk. The fabrics we work with most are pre-shrunk, with residual shrinkage of around one to three percent, so garments keep their size after washing. Every order's fabric is inspected before it is cut.
Sample before bulk
Problems found on one garment, not a full run
Every design is sampled and approved before bulk production starts. The sample is where fit, fabric, colour and decoration problems show up, on a single garment rather than across an entire order. One revision round is included, so fixing a problem at this stage is the normal path rather than an extra.
Quality control
Four checkpoints on every order
Fabric inspection before cutting, in-process checks while the line runs, post-production inspection of finished garments, and a final pre-shipment review of the packed order. A fault caught early means fewer pieces made wrong and fewer made twice.
Order planning
Made to order, in a quantity that gets worn
We make to order and hold no stock garments, so nothing is produced speculatively on a brand's behalf. Our minimum is 50 pieces per garment type, with sizes and colourways split within it. We would rather help a brand plan a quantity it can sell than encourage a bigger run it cannot.
A low minimum is not automatically a more responsible one. What matters is that the quantity made is the quantity needed. Our guide to minimum order quantities explains how to plan a first run.
Cutting
Planned before the fabric is cut
Patterns are graded across your size range and the lay is planned for each order before cutting. We do not publish waste or offcut figures on this page. What we can describe is the practice that prevents avoidable waste: an approved specification, an approved sample, and a cut planned for the quantity actually ordered.
Packaging
Packed for the journey, agreed with your quote
Approved stock is bagged and boxed for shipping and sent on a tracked international service. Branded packaging, such as custom bags or swing tags, is agreed as part of your quote.
How production is run
One company, accountable for its own work
NO FUGAZI is one company in two halves: a London team that runs each order, and our own dedicated overseas facility that makes it. Because we do not book work into other people's factories, the standards on this page are ours to keep, and brands deal with the people responsible for their garments.
If your buyer or retailer requires a specific audit, certification or supplier questionnaire, raise it before you are quoted and we will tell you plainly what we can provide.
Improving
An ongoing process, not a finished one
Responsible manufacturing is not something a business completes. We look at where faults and remakes come from and tighten the step that let them through, and we will update this page as our practice changes rather than overstate where we are.
Questions
Ask how your order would be made
